Hi all. For the next 2/3 months I will be in Cork city every Tuesday night, due to work. The reason for this post is that I need to keep up my running training on Tuesday nights. Do any of you have any good running routes around the city (I know the big streets but thats all) or as an alternative are there any running clubs/groups which wouldn't mind me joining them for this one night. Thanks:D

    Hi there.
Welcome to Cork - you'll find the people down here are very balanced - they have chips on both their shoulders...;)

Here is a previous thread with some runs. Where abouts are you working?

Working in the city centre. Brother lives fairly close to there so I would be staying with him. It's just Tuesday is normally one of my training days with Sportsworld in terenure and I don't want to let it lapse. I would prefer to run with people to do some intervals/hills as I seem not really to push myself on such runs if on my own!!

there are a few clubs in cork, - leevale, eagle, togher, all of whom have web sites.
pop them an email and you should get an idea of training times etc.
There are two track in Cork- in the CIT, and the mardyke UCC, both in west of the city.

As for hill, well in Cork we got loads!! You could do some hill reps on St. Patricks Hill fror example.
Check out the mapmyrun website and search on cork runs

Roy, I hope you rang the ambulance before you started? Actually, I know Zuppylurk was looking into the possibility of having a 1 mile race up Patricks hill. Same weekend as the marathon/ocean to city etc as there is a lot of fun stuff going on in the city that particular weekend. I must ask him if he ever got anywhere with it.
