Anyone know of any races in the Sligo (or surrounding area) on St. Patricks weekend or the May bank holiday weekend.

South Sligo AC have a 10K in Tubbercurry on St Patricks Day for the last 35 years. I have not seen details yet for 2009.

There was a lovely 10k, last easter from Carney around Lisadell house and back.
It was a good race. Last years details also on athenrys site.
They had kids races too.

AS the lads said theres carney and tubber , from recollection both are relatively flat although the last time i did tubber the route was 10 years ago , although i dont think the route has changed loop of the town and up the mountain road (not really) and back in the ballymote road to finish in the square .
Theres one in Grange later on in the year also,. similarly a friend in the tri club said they were planning a full tri around april with relay teams

Calry 9 mile February 28 i think on a Saturday 2009
Tubbercurry 10k St Patricks Day 2009
Carney Lisadell 10k April 13 2009
Grange 10k Early October last year
Calry Turkey trot Mid December
Derrpark Calry 5k Mid to late September last year
Warriors run 10 mile Augest
There are other races around possibly 10kms but not well advertised usually won in average times compared to Carney or Grange.

Theres provisionally a Hill race on Cairns Hill in Sligo town in July possibly as part of a Connaught Hill Running League.

Very interesting as my family home is just beside Cairns hill. So it would be great to run a race on it.

Not much on this time of the year.
Sligo AC run a Fit4Life Winter League - see http://sligoac.blogspot.com/2009/09/sligo-ac-fit4life-league-2009.html

There's usually a few races on around the end of the year, closest are 5Ks in Westport on Dec 27 or Finn Valley on Dec 26.
Also a 5K in Sligo on Dec 20, starting at the Southern Hotel on the Strandhill Road. Proceeds go to the Special Olympics.
