    Hey Guys,

I know it’s an odd one but was anyone listening to the Pat Kenny Show this morning on Radio 1?

Seems something was said about the company I work for. While we have been told to keep an eye out for reporters ringing up and so on no one has been told what the thing is about.
While I really should not be saying who I work for, it will come out. I do however work for a company that does private car park management, among other things. We also have a contract with Iarnrod Eireann, which is the only thing I can think about that would be of interest to a radio show, now why this is I have no idea. I am hoping one of you can enlighten me :)

    Thanks

Someone parked in a carpark late at night something like 9:30 to 11 (dont know where it was) and did not see a sign about parking charges. They got clamped and fined by your company (probably) and he had some correspondance with same company tried to appeal on I dont exactly know on what basis (possibly the lack of signage) and was told no dice.

Wasnt listening intently but I think that is the jist. Pat asked for any other stories related to dealing with same company.

    Thats it.

    lol was that all?

Oh well, I thought it was some kind of juicy story or something. People getting clamped for parking where they should not.... have we not been over this story year ago when they introduced the clampers?

oh well, thanks for the info jimbozo

Some 70 yr old dude and his squeeze parked at dalkey rlwy Stn at 2130 UTC.

came back at 2333UTC to find his motor clamped and a bill of €120. staring him in the face.

Some geezer called ball wouldn't refund the poor dude.

Oh come off it! You work for a company that clamps and didn't have a clue what the radio piece would be about. The minute I tead your opening piece I sussed what it must be connected to. Not getting in to the rights or wrongs of clamping in any way - just baffled that you couldn't imagine what the issue was. You even said you did car park management "among other things" so I suspect you knew deep down what it was about.

Plus, could nobody working there ask why you were to keep an eye out for reporters? Could you yourself not ask? Some company if you can't get a query answered internally!

I immediately thought of a story involving job losses tbh. A story involving someone who was wrongly clamped doesn't deserve the airtime IMO. If they were wrongly clamped they should go through the approporaite proceedure with the company.

The company managing the car parks are vicious. In Thurles a guy parked and went off for the day and when he came back he was clamped. He was told it was a disabled spot. He said there is no sign, they said he parked ove the painted symbol which did not exist.

They still refused to remove the clamp until he paid. He got into correspondence and to this day he has received nothing back.

Clamping comes up quite a lot in motors and people simply prefer the idea of cutting them off with an angle grinder.

You could also get some yellow chalk and mark your wheels and when they take off the clamp scream blue murder until they refund you.

    Or do this:

They did, company wrote letter back dismissing their complaint for some reason. Missed that bit. :)

Never been clamped before but I got a warning. Was pretty pissed off. No double yellow lines, no emergency access, no reason to clamp in that area. Have free underground parking where I live, but if I have something heavy to take up to my apartment I park at a differant area first, bring up my shopping or whatever and then park in the car park. Funny thing is, on the way to the carpark people park on the narrow road on double yellow lines yet they never do anything about it. I said I would grind the thing off if they clamped me, but would this work? Could you grind the thing off?

Maybe there are going to be massive clamper lay-offs? If so, I welcome lowlife clampers losing their jobs

Yeah, I don't think that particular sector would get much sympathy from the public.

I think you guys should try and clamp Pat Kenny's car, or... Clamp him to some traintracks at Dalkey Railway station!
