Lenovo X301 Mobile Broadband

    Hi,
    I've just got a Lenovo X301, getting a WWAN card for it but it's bundled with Vodafone mobile broadband. Has anyone managed to use an internal WWAN card with an O2 SIM? I'm on an 18 month contract with O2 mobile broadband.

    I've got the x200s so i presume that's similar if not the same 3g device as your x301.

    I use the ubuntu operating system normally instead of windows. setup went totally fine with ubuntu, was working in about 30 seconds.

    with window 7 i haven't been able to get it working, i get an error pretty early on in the process about the service provider not being supported even though i can scan for and detect the 02 network and clearly it is possible seeing as ubuntu has no issues with it.

    I'd imagine this is a deal between vodafone and lenovo to lock it into their network and i couldn't really care about trying to get around it.

    If you're half way good with computers i'd recommend taking ubuntu for a spin, you don't need to wipe windows, just set aside some space for ubuntu and you'll have a choice each time you turn on your laptop which operating system you want to use.
