Im Starting to think that I might benefit from a bit of counsiling.
Aparantley I show a lot of signs of depression
    -Bad personal hygiene
    -Lack of motivation
    -Distancing myself from friends
-Anger over things that happened ages ago
    -etc etc etc

The thing is Im very nervous about going to see someone, I still live at home and dont want them to know(even though they suggested it) I cant imagine sitting in the waiting room with other people who are having problems and imagine if I saw someone I knew!!
I'd feel stupid and week for needing the help in the first place aswell
Any advice? Besides sometimes I feel OK
    what should I do?

Hi OP, sorry to hear you have been feeling bad. (Just so you know feeling ok sometimes and feeling bad other times is normal for many people with depression) The best thing to do is to book an appointment with a GP. No one in the waiting room will know what you are there for, and you can just have a general chat with your GP about your symptoms and they will be able to make suggestions, including referring you to a suitable counsellor if that is what you would like to do.

I am 21 years old and have had depression since my early teens, after years of trying to deal with it / ignore it I eventually decided enough was enough and went to see a GP. I was so nervous, scared and embarrassed and actually burst into tears in front of the doctor before I even said a word because I was so overwhelmed, but they deal with people who are feeling down, unmotivated or depressed all the time, and it is not a big deal for them.

Don’t feel stupid or weak, this sort of thing affects so many people and most of us keep it hidden because we feel like we are the only ones feeling like this. It’s not true. Taking the step to do something about how I was feeling was hard and scary but it was the best decision I’ve ever made and I wish I had done it years ago, as I also distanced myself from friends etc. Just make the first step and book one appointment with a doctor, get some advice on your options, have a think about it and take it from there. Best of luck x

There has a be a certain measure of carrying on regardless. It's good that you recognise this in yourself but you have to submit to the process. Try not to have any expectations.

To the original poster, have you considered or eliminated you might be suffering from fatigue?

Or maybe it may even be your diet, are you eating well, fresh vegetables, etc....

Go see your GP, and explain it, its not always depression when your feeling blue....

Just to reiterate what the previous posters have said - first step is to see your GP, take it from there and see what they say.
