Polar RS200 HRM - is it good enough to use for swimming

I have a Polar RS200 Heart Rate Monitor. I want to start using it in the pool and just wondering if anyone has had any issues with it in water. It says its water proof to 50m but have never been confident about the accuracy of these things!!
    Thanks

    Howdy,

It'll work, but expect the strap to feel a bit awkward and maybe slip off. I tried it years ago but learned that pace was a better indicator for swimming than using HR, plus I got laughed at for being a tri-nerd. I shrugged it off by putting my fins and snorkel on and swimming continuously for 30 mins.

I've never had a problem with it being accurate in water but it is one of the few times, it is advantageous to be a woman as the swimsuit tends to told the strap in place. Some pools don't like you using watches in the water but most are ok with it.

Thanks for the responses Hunnymonster and OuterBombie. I'll give it a go.

I probably should have been clearer in my original post in that it was more for the stopwatch element of things I was going to use it for to time my sets rather than HRM. It would probably explode given my current heart rates while swimming...

I wear contacts swimming and even with them in I can find it difficult somtimes to see the swim clock never mind the days I forget to pack the contacts.

    Cheers,
