Had to go to court to day about a parking fine.(Father was out of the country. His fine).Someone said to me that the guards all came in when they werent technically on duty and they got time and a half.Is this true!!!It seems ridicolous if it is because surely the court process is an integral part of their job and it should be possible to structure it into their working day.

AFAIK,They get 'time off in lieu'.
In other words, going to court while not on working hours.
And,NO.They only get their standard pay,not time and a half.

I think a Garda HAS to turn up at court too..even if they're on a sickie..if their case is up they HAVE to be there

Everyone has to turn up to court if they are summoned as a witness.

When a guard is on duty and has a scheduled court appearance it's done as part of the working day. If the appearance falls on a rest day/day off they get overtime pay for it.
