Good deal on the best show on tv by a country mile.

In case people don't know, the Region 2 Battlestar releases are under Universal's much maligned 'Playback' imprint, which translates into them have almost no special features, unlike the US Region 1 versions which are full of features.

Whatever about the prices, if you have a region free player or don't mind watching on your PC, you should get the Region 1 releases instead.

This is the cheapest I've found so far by a margin of €20.

    P.

Note the comment on the season 4 box set
"Relive the events in all 10 episodes of Season Four of Battlestar Galactica"

It does not contain the second part of season 4, the final 10 episodes, most of which have not aired yet...

Buying this might not be the best idea, seeing as you miss half of season 4. Wait for the full 1-4 boxset to be released.

I bought the Season 1 - 3 inc Mini Series box Set for 42euro in Zavvi in early January... by the end of their "sale" it was even cheaper...

Great show, and I am looking forward to series 4.

Sure who watches those special features anyway?

You have 4 entire seasons(24 episodes per season) and you think you'll have time to watch special features?

As indicated above - it contains three and a half seasons.

It only has the first half of season 4.

As well as only half of season 4, I don't think this one contains the miniseries, Razor prequel (essential) or the various extended cuts? Yeh, not a bargain I reckon.

    Yep, think so.

That post from GerardKeating was posted almost 2 months ago though.

Disregarding the fact you mis-read what was in the package as well as how many episodes are in each season, it's better to know what you're buying than not, so it's hard to see any point to what you said.

Adding to that, alot of people watch a good portion of special features, let alone the people willing to buy a box set of four (incomplete) seasons of a show.

His general point was that it was 4 seasons for 39.99. Whether he got the specific amount of episodes wrong is inconsequential: it's still far cheaper to buy this pack than to import the US version.

And besides, you get the miniseries also, so technically it's 3 seasons, a mini season, and a half-season.

Adding to this, the UK distributor (Playback, owned by Universal) are calling the last half of season 4 "The Final Season". They called the first half "Season Four". whereas in the US it was called "Season 4.0".

So in fact it's a regional disparity, intentionally marketed by Universal, who own the show. So go criticise them.

And again it's pointedly ignored that the main point is that it's better to know what you're getting into before you buy.

If you're big enough of a fan to want to own most of the series on DVD you'd probably be pretty partial to the numberous documentaries and production features on the US releases, so it's more than worth pointing out.

If you're not a fan or just want to try the series out, it's a decent bundle, but even then it's good to know it's very much incomplete even in episode terms.

The fact Playback (whom I already said in my first post was an imprint of Universal) call the second half of season four ''The Final Season'' on its DVDs is matterless - season four runs in television and production numbers here, and in the US, from Razor, the tv movie released in Novemeber 2007, up to the series finale last week, 20 episodes later, to be perfectly clear.

That said, no one had even brought up the fact Playback are calling the second half of season 4 ''The Final Season'' until you did, nor was I criticising someone else for the fact season four was in two pieces.
