    Hi,

I'm really interested in doing a J1 this Summer, and was thinking along the lines of Florida, Boston, New York etc., that region.

Does anyone know any worthwhile contacts for looking for jobs in these locations, or give any info regarding accommodation and nightlife??

I applied for 10's of positions off the website j1jobs which was useful and got some contact back already, sent photo's, app forms etc, however they aren't glamorous jobs, I don't give a **** what I'm doing tbh, and they pay is only around $400 a week, which is enough I guess for alco & accom & food & savings.

But I'm not heading off unless I have a job organized first. I noticed on the website sayit.ie that they are closing app's for 7th Feb or until Visa's run out. Do the other organizations prolong their dates or what would you rate second to sayit.ie. I'd want to go from July-September

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Lucas

I was at the j1 jobs talk in Trinity today. They had people from 3 east coast beach clubs over recruiting Irish students. You got food 7 days a week as well as free accommodation and the pay seemed good too. Cannot for the life of me remember the names of the companies though. If you ring Usit they should be able to tell you.

Thanks for that Risteard, I'll PM you now!! ;)

I noticed the apply date for sayit.ie is nearly up...so I looked towards go4less which seems to have cheaper prices.

I was wondering though, I --need-- to go away for the month of June and so need my passport for the start of June. I understand though that the US Embassy needs my passport for a given period of time. I was wondering when you got your passport back, as it says on the sayit.ie website not to book holidays around the May month??

I was thinking of Florida yea...what's it like there?? :)

Also I was slightly concerned then about the flight cost. Most people book their flights early, but I've left things late by leaving it 'til February. What would you expect the cost of a flight to Florida/East Coast US be if they were booked?? I can't seem to get through to go4less by email...they have an on-site email thing but it crashes when I try to use it.

    I appreciate all replies... ;):)
