    Hi,

I'm just wondering if it is worth having a second job in relation to tax. I am thinking about getting a part time job in Dunnes as well as my full time job but don't know if it is worth it because I feel I'll be hit badly with tax. Anyone in this position?

    I don't even have a first job! :(

Hows about I have your first job and you take the one at Dunnes? :p

It all depends on the job.

I used to do a spot of lecturing in the evenings and, shall we say, it kept herself in the lifestyle she was accustomed to. ;)

And that was paying full tax on the second job. It is of benefit when it is regular (i.e specific hours/days of the week where you can plan your life around it). If it is sporadic and irregular, I am not so sure it would be worth it.

Haha if I could afford to give it up I would. Think it's a bad time to look for a second job when people can't even get ONE job!!!

Hi Milly, I have a second job and what I did was divide my tax free allowance, I put €30k of it on my main job and the rest on my 2nd job so I can earn €6400(I think that's what it is) in my 2nd job at 20% tax anything after that is at 41% tax, hope this helps.
