Are the roads going to be mad again tonight?

I see snow outside. I have to drive from Swords to Dun Laoghaire at 1pm and drive back home at 3pm. What was it like in town two days ago at 3-4pm? Are we all going to be stuck in traffic again?

Going through the City / East Link from DL is fine in all the crappy weather. Just stay clear of the M50 (for the love of god!).

By the looks of the weather at the moment it will take you till 3 to get there....... Good luck and safe driving

The snow around Dublin will be nothing like the last few days but there should be a bit.
Go through the city and you should be fine.

Think you should be fine, drove into work this morning as usual from Blackrock to IFSC, it was fine and substaintialy less cars on the road, people may decide to leave the cars home to avoid the madness in the evening.

Like others said, avoid M50, you should be fine, safe motoring.

    Update:
There's a new weather system moving in from the Irish Sea, a lot of snow looking to fall mostly in north Dublin.
Currently its pelting down in Tallaght and i have reports of almost blizzard liek conditions in some parts of the city center.

Might want to keep an eye out, things could get interesting.

Drive to Malahide and get the DART if in doubt.

Given the useless lemmings that pass for around 90% of the drivers here I would say we will. Most have absolutely no idea at all of how to drive in snowy conditions (read slippy roads).

I'm back, roads were fairly slippery alright, had to take it very slow. Massive jam happening northbound out of the city. Luckily I got out of it.

The bigger problem was trying to get my car into my driveway - it's on a slope and the road was covered in snow and slush. Spent at least 30 mins trying to get her in (RWD)! Even the neighbours came out to help! The car was driving sideways! Eventually got it halfway in and at an angle. Laughs had by all, except me :(

I'd say it could be a long commute. Took me an hour to get from Ballsbridge to Bray and that was at 3. Lots of slush around, and the roads seemed as bad as they've been this week.

Just got a call from the sister. Traffic is at a complete standstill on the n11 at Bray area. Total whiteout.

My old man has just phoned me, he was up at Ticknock cross earlier, the cars were having real problems getting up the bridge over the M50. He said Beemers were especially poor at getting up the hill. His sage bit of advice to the drivers which worked repeatedly was to leave the car in first, do not touch the accelerator at all and ease off the clutch and the car will very slowly move forward and slowly get up the hill. He said it worked at treat with those who headed the advice. By the time he left there was a bunch of locals out helping the cars.

It's only 8 miles home. Could walk it in 2 hours. Would probably work out better than getting the bus. :(

Luckily my car is only 4 miles away, so I can walk there \o/

I live in Ticknock, Tuesday evening it took me two hours to get home from Sandyford Ind Est via a few detours. Our office closed at 4.30 today because of the weather and I was home by 5pm. More snow - less muppets! :D

P.S - Drive a BMW and didn't have any issues, apart from a couple of sideways moments but my weekend car does that in the dry anyhow!

Just in case anyone is wondering, things at lower levels in South Dublin as of about 45 minutes ago were absolutely fine, no snow on the roads, even M50 toll bridge to Tallaght, but the roads were very wet, so if it freezes it will be bad (weather stations on N81 at Tallaght were reporting subzero road temps as of about 4pm). M50 was remarkably quiet southbound, until Ballymount, but even then it was moving (5 minutes from Ballymount to Tallaght exit), but could see northbound wasn't so lucky.

Yep, it looks like a lot of schools were sent home early today, so the roads are very clear. I left at 5.30 and actually got home quicker than normal.

The temps might be down as low as -3 tonight, so the roads tomorrow could be insane.
