I lived in Ahmra House in 1st year. Its grand, but the lanlord had it in for me and my roomie the whole year. He is a bit of a disciplinarian. Saying that if you are on the waiting lists for gort and cuirt, you'll probably get a place. Or else try and get a room in dun na coiribe, same thing only you don't have inspections and the like.

Yeah, dun is mostly students as well, but that bit better if its freedom you want rather than actual student res. if you still want to be out in a student place, even though in town is handy for going out but I prefer it out here.

Amhra House landlord is best described as a total ****. He screwed me out of a deposit, claiming we broke stuff that we didn't and generally being an ass.

no matter how desperate you get, don't live in amhra house. it's ridiculously overpriced and the landlord is as ignorant as they come. i've lived in ten different places since i started college and he's the worst i've ever come across. he cheated us out of money and didn't deal with anything that came up during the year, including disgusting damp and mould, a broken fire alarm (and by broken i mean going off for no reason every 20 minutes, in the middle of my finals), the fact that our apartment was missing things that it was supposed to have (eg, hoover), which he then later charged us for and gave out stink to us about the place being dirty. also, from talking to other people in the building, he may be a chauvinist - he was really horrible and condescending to all the girls but perfectly nice to the lads. that may not be true though.

i could go on but just...don't live there. tell your friends.

don't know about donegan, but dun na coiribe is pretty good and there are lots of students there but isn't student residence-y. if you're looking for students and have missed corrib village, the coiribes are probably your best bet.
