Depends on what you're talking about. If it's a standard auction, then the price you see is only a starting bid, the final price could be higher. There's also postage to consider.

A lot of stuff there is knock offs, or cheap alternatives, some can be 2nd hand or reconditioned.

    If you're looking at a 40" TV for €60, then it's a scam.

Cos your not being taxed on it , and its just ordinary people selling on it that arnt getting much from it , and there are no scams on ebay , cos if your protected if anything goes wrong then you get a refund

There are plenty of scams on eBay, for both buyer and seller. Paypal protection doesn't work for sellers who sell to Ireland. Paypal buyer protection will not work on intangible goods, which is the case in a lot of scams. If you pay buy any other means, you have no protection at all, and this may sometimes be necessary.

i think you are protected as a seller in ireland ?
as long as you ship to the registered address on Paypal.

    OP:
people also can buy in bulk, for example i have seen the latest iphone and if you buy 10 of them, you can buy them for €2500, so 250 each, and you can sell them for 400.
what i have seen some sellers who source stuff in china, or japan and get it sent to you.
they dont even touch it :)

when i started using ebay ,i always bought from sellers with a lot of transanction history and 100% rating.

you get use to it after a while ,then you take your chances.

AFAIK, seller protection only works if you ship to a Paypal confirmed address, but Paypal won't confirm any address in Ireland. This was the case, but not sure if it still is.

And what exactly does the seller need to be protected by ? =]

People using stolen credit card or hacked Paypal accounts. People claiming the items didn't arrive, and taking the money back. People doing a charge back after the payment was made, and taking the money back. And so on.
