Michael McDowell did away with it when he was Minister for Staying At Home And Never Having Any Fun with special responsibility for screwing anyone under the age of about 35.

I'm surprised they don't allow happy hours for about a week before any vote or election......

It doesnt even have to be happy, maybe if it was just a 'slightly morose hour.' Would be rather fitting for the times that are in it.....:pac:

Maybe they could introduce a happy hour levy which could be excise deductible and we could have a % scale based on alcohol content :p

But would the private and public sector workers get different amounts?

TGI's Blackrock (The Playwright) have pints at €3 all day and cocktails at €4 all day. Not sure of the other branches.

The law is that they cannot reduce the price during the day, they can put it up. They can have it low from opening on certain days, so they still have "happy days" in many pubs.

There are also loopholes around it I have yet to see used. e.g. you could have one cheap brand of vodka or beer, which mysteriously only comes into stock and 5pm and even more mysteriously runs out at 8pm on the dot.

Anyone else remember the boom years of Happy Hours in pubs/clubs.
The Mad Hatter in Blackrock had a thing where you paid €50 at the door and all booze was free all night. Good times....

when I started this thread, I really thought to myself, this is the one, This is the thread..

A thread which will rise a once Proud Nation...

Sadly now, 7 years on we still have people who think life without Happy Hour feels alive, they will even make do with a happy minutes:mad:
(it takes me at least 12 minutes girls and another 48 to clean up;))

Stand up young country men, stand up for what is rightfully hours, don't close an eye until Happy Hour is back, for Ireland without it's Happy Hour is like a Tiger without it's bite!

Young Mulla has fallen, capture your moment!

    Sing it back
    Bring it back
    Sing it back
    Bring back Happy Hour!

They only took it away during the good times so they could bring it back two weeks before the next election.
