First it was a case of hitting a really bad pothole, you know, the one that sounds like you hit a cavity block. What followed was a puncture which led to the sidewall becoming swiss cheese, and replaced with another tyre.

Then, I hit another hole, which cracks my subframe. Yay, €600 to throw out the train window.

Does anyone get any money back from the County Council for this damage, Cause it's hardly my fault tbh. Anyone who drives on the Prosperous to Allenwood road should know this, or anywhere around the main town of Edenderry too.

    Rant over.

There is a road in Tipp Town thats like a missile testing field.

Think you can submit a claim if they have repaired it previous to the incident or something like that but not sure.

If the CO CO have attempted to repair the pothole before, or if it has been reported a number of times i think you can claim for the damage.

Otherwise, buy a tractor or slow down!

One road in particular leading to my housing estate has been "filled in" a few times over the last few months. It's still a deathtrap.

Im afraid the councils solicitors will claim non malfeasance.

I tried this with North Tipp Co Council after losing two €120 tyres to a pothole in my Passatt. Thats right ONE pothole took out two tyres at the same time. It was like a crater.

The same road is always ****e. I now drive on the white line to avoid one section.

Im afraid you wont get a penny.

Or speed up so you skim them ;)

Surely people don't just put up with this crap. There must be something I can do?

Hold up, people have definitely posted here before about receiving costs from the council.

I think you have to take pictures of the pothole before they manage to fill it and have all your receipts in order to stand a chance.

Oh I'll have photos and receipts for the feckers, and a big smiley face to go with them.

As far as I know, if it was previously repaired but repaired badly then you can sue them for a faulty job. If it's a new pothole that was never touched then you don't have a claim afaik.

Things are getting bad out there, we're in a recession dont you know. I went on a road today which I hadn't been down a while and was amazed to find a large section had completely disappeared into something akin to the Giants Causeway at high tide, had to pick my way very carefully through it to avoid grounding the bottom of car the potholes were so deep. And I dont even have lowered suspension. At least not yet - soon I'll have to commute over that road daily so that could change, the hard way  - I needs a jeep I think. I get the feeling some County Councils just cant afford to maintain their roads. Anyone seen line repainting happening recently ? I havn't, but I 've seen plenty of lines disappearing.
