Hi, i got my nose pierced about 3-3 1/2 weeks ago. It was fine at the start then whatever way i was sleeping i think it was the stud started to go into my nose. It made the top of the hole quite big, Anyway it healed but now i have a lump beside the piercing. Kind of like a little wart but it sore to touch. Its gross and im really worried. Can anyone enlighten my as to what it is and how to get it to heal?

Kind of like a little wart but it sore to touch.

Do NOT touch it... at all. hands are gross and dirty and will make it worse.

My nose piercing is 11 weeks old now and still not healed.

I got that bump after about 3 weeks cos I thought it was healed and got lax with the aftercare.

Sea salt soak twice a day as directed by your piercer. dont touch the jewellery at all unless its to clean.

Make at least one of these soaks a long soak (30-40 mins). Make sure you're eating and looking after yourself properly as well ;)

If the bump starts to go down, great! but keep up the soaks till at least a week after its totally gone.

Mine was almost gone last week, I slacked off and now its getting big again >.<

    good luck :)

step 1 - wash your hands while kettles boiling
step 2 - add about 1/4 tsp sea salt (sea, not regular) to a pint of boiled water.

actually just check out the stickied thread "guidelines for healing your piercings" thread at the top of the forum, tis all in there

Ok thanks sorry just one more question, why you say soak it for 30-40mins do i just like hold a cotton pad soaked in the salty water against it or what?

I just used a cotton pad, cleaned around the piercing gently inside and outside the nostril. Nose piercings do take some time to heal.

Defo +1 on not touching it

I first got my nose done nearly 20 yrs ago, at that time it was as popular, i used tea tree oil.

TBH my nose only healed properly when i found the right piece of jewelery for it.

keep it clean and look after it;);)

I said it because it what helps the piercing to heal ;)

    Short soak - 10 mins
    long soak - 30+ mins

just wiping with a cotton pad is no good tbh

I use cotton woll yeah :)

I ment to say when not why there. I dont get it though i cant put my nose in salty water for 40 mins?

Yeah you can. Read a book, watch tv.

I imagine it would be quite hard to watch tv with my nose submerged in a bowl of salty water but sure if you say so :)

If I can do it sideways with my ear in salt water you can do it with your nose! Try a shotglass.

I use a small bowl but yea shotglass would work too. I use cotton wool for the first 10/15 mins to draw out any gunk, then dunk for the rest. ;) Tis way easier than it sounds tbh :)

Your telling me, try keeping your nose in a shotglass i keep forgetting i cant breathe out it and end up blowing bubbles in my face!
