I take it that you want to use the recording facilities..if so you would need to call sky and either take out a sub or just the sky plus sub.

Also - Sky will not allow you to install yourself. I had a Sky+ and a regular Sky box in another room. I decided to swap the boxes which meant that I had to run an extra cable from the LNB to the second room in order to connect up Sky+ there - no problem.

However, when I went to upgrade the second box to a Sky+ box, they insisted on an engineer coming out to do the install even though all the required cables were already in place. 49 yoyos, no way around it

I think you haev to get them to install the sky+ box as they need to upgrade the cable from the normal sky box. Something to do with been able to record and watch a signal at the same time.

Even with the correct cabling in place (Sky+ requires 2 cables to the LNB/dish as it uses 2 tuners) they still require an engineer to come on site to activate it. In this case, all that is required is to unpack the box, hook it up and make the call to activate the card. Easy money!

Hi I installed my own quad lnb and Sky + box took out a contract with sky and when I got the card I just rang them to activate the card. Same when I got multi room I did the phone set up. As long as sky are getting your monthly sub they really couldn't careless.
