Market menu in the Clarence Hotel - €26 for three courses

I have eaten in the "tea room" in the Clarence Hotel many times. It's fantastic so I don't know why it's not more known.

They have a menu called the "market menu" which consists of at least three courses for €26. The food is excellent quality, and you are treated to a proper waiting service.

For example, I went there last week. For €26 I got -

    - Plate of various delicious breads (all sorts of weird bread)
    - Confit of duck with lentils (starter)
    - Fillet steak with potato and vegetables (main)
    - Chocolate pie sort of thing (dessert)
    - Plate of miniature desserts

The food is really good (I'm a harsh critic of restaurants) and the staff treat you respectfully. All in all, I think it's the best value meal in Dublin, and I eat out a lot (a good few times per week.)

    Worth checking out!

sounds good. Are there specific times/days this offer is open? Sounds like a typical 'early bird' menu. Would be great if this was in the evenings too. Cheers.

Sorry, I should have mention, 7 PM onwards! So it's suitable for a proper dinner.

Note I have on occassion seen it priced as €26 for two courses (it might depend on how nice the food is that night), but even at that price it is great value.

Might be a good place to go for Valentines Day......they have a four course menu for €45 including with glass of rose champagne and HOMEMADE CHOCOLATES AT END OF MEAL!!

    What do u guys think?

Well, I ate there twice this week so I'm probably the resident expert on the place. :)

The service is great, and the room has a nice feel about it. The food is lovely, and the price... well, it's the best value in Dublin by far.

I think it is a good choice for Valentines.

I was there a few weeks ago -what a joke ,Ordered lunch at 3.15 on Sunday ,the restaurant was half empty, about 45 mins later I asked the waitress what the delay was as we noticed people who arrived after us had got their meals, she checked with the kitchen & told us there had been a mix up and our meal would be served in 10 mins -we waited 10 mins and the meal arrived -but not what we ordered -so having wasted an hour we left.I complained subsequently and received a couple of calls ,no apology just excuses ,I hear the food is very good ,pity about the service or lack of -we will not be returning anytime soon
