    Hey,

There is a group of us heading down to Ballyhouras on Saturday.
Anyone got any ideas of how it will hold up down there, with all the recent snow. I was at Ballinastoe on Saturday and the place was ridiculously wet? Is Ballyhouras likely to be the same? Has anyone been there recently?

    Thanks

I've never had problems with BH being too wet, there's very good drainage and the only real problem would be the boardwalks - but that's all part of the fun :D
I was out there 10 days ago and I can honestly say I had the best cycle I've had out there - no problems whatsoever with grip and there hasn't been much rain since then. Even snow doesn't pose much problems, there was a good layer up there before Christmas and the trails were fine.

So, did you make down there?

Yep made it up there alright.
The logistics were a bit of mess though. There were about 10 of us in total coming from Mayo, Galway and Dublin. Got a bit lost on the way down - mainly due to not bothering to look exactly where the place was or bring a map, had a general idea, but made it ok.

The trails were fine. There were only a few icy parts along the last section where your back wheel wanted to skid out, that were sketchy in places but nothing to really of to much concern. Some of the board walk were covered in ice but just had to be careful around the sharper bends.

Apart from that the place was great. Probably abit of a pain to just go down for one day IMO, so will probably go for a weekend over the summer. Its good for killing yourself if you have some others of similiar ability but its piss easy all over. I was a bit dissappointed that it didnt have anything more technical but can see that Coillte dont want people hurting themselves, so you'll never really improve just riding that IMO.

Apart from that was good. Will be back for more at some stage.
