Surely the weather is a factor for both teams.. Never thought I'd see the day when Dub hurlers would be favs against Cork on enemy turf. Not my cup of tea for a bet though, just interesting price IMO

Bad weather will make it low scoring so best team may not win.

Cork look to team of league rookies for Dublin tie
    By Michael Ellard

COULD this be a first in the 81-year history of the National Hurling League — 15 players from one county all making their competitive debuts on the same day?

That is the story of the Cork team selected to play Dublin in the first game of the Allianz NHL at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday.

County champions Sarsfields have five players on the side in goalkeeper Alan Kennedy, left corner back Conor O’Sullivan,. centre-back Ray Ryan, left half back Craig Leahy and right half forward Tadhg Óg Murphy.

Championship runners-up Bride Rovers and St Finbarr’s have two representatives each. The Bride Rovers duo are Barry Johnson and Michael Collins. Johnson is named at midfield, with Collins at full-forward.

The St Finbarr’s representatives are Eoin Keane, named at right half back, and Glen O’Connor, chosen at midfield.

Six other clubs have one representative each. Chris Murphy of Blackrock is the new full-back. Eoin Clancy of Fermoy is at right full back; Aidan Ryan of Midleton is on the 40 with Darrren Crowley of Bandon on the left wing. Adrian Mannix of Kilworth and Eoghan Cronin of Glen Rovers hold down the two corner forward positions with Mannix on the right.

Patrick Maher (Lorrha) will make his league debut at centre-forward for Tipperary as they begin the defence of their title against Waterford on Sunday at Walsh Park.

In all, there are four changes from the side defeated by Clare in the recent Waterford Crystal Cup final with Shane Maher, Thomas Stapleton, John O’Brien and team captain Willie Ryan coming in at the expense of Seamus Hennessy, Noel McGrath and the injured Larry Corbett and Hugh Maloney.

Clare manager Mike McNamara introduces one newcomer for their league opener with Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds. Cathal Dillon, a member of the Crusheen club, is named at full-back and is the only newcomer on a seasoned Clare team.

Five Galway players make their league debuts against All-Ireland champions Kilkenny at Pearse Stadium in Salthill on Sunday. Manager John McIntyre and his selectors have made four changes from the side which went down after extra-time to Kilkenny in the Walsh Cup final last Sunday.

Three of the players coming in — goalkeeper Colm Callanan, corner-back Kieran O’Donovan and wing-back Martin Ryan — will be making their debuts at this level.

Also making league debuts will be full-back Damian McClearn and centre-forward Cyril Donnellan, although goalkeeper Callanan and Donnellan have championship experience under their belts.

Injury has ruled out experienced defender Fergal Moore, who went off in the opening half against Kilkenny on Sunday, while others ruled out through injury are Mark Kerins, Brian O’Mahony and Eoin Forde.

McIntyre and his selectors are also without six Portumna players and two from Cappataggle, involved in the All-Ireland Club series.

"We are without 12 players in total and are under no illusions about the task we face against Kilkenny," said McIntyre.

The Kilkenny team is due to be announced tonight.

Mr Daly will have Dublin fired up. A good start to their campaign even it is a very under strength Cork team.

Yeah just about to say that, Portumna hammered that Cork team last week. The score was ~3-14 to 0-0 for a while I heard, although I'd find that hard to believe.
