I am strongly considering doing this course after the LC. Can anyone who has done/is doing this course offer their opinions on this course. I would just like your general opinion. Thanks!

    (btw it's without a language)

Here's my advice, do the Higher Cert first. Its only 2 years and you do the same subjects as in the first two years of the bbs. Then if you still want to do the BBS you can go straight into year 3 of it. Or if your sick of studying business you can go do something else and you wont have completely wasted 2 years cause you'll have a cert.

4 years is a long time.

    Hi,

I'd also say go the route of the Higher Cert.

I'm in 4th year in this course at the moment. I done the Cert 1st. We were told in 2nd year that students that do the Cert are more likely to get a higher mark in degree. And been honest after the results came out last week, it certainly is looking that way. the lads that went straight into the 4 year course are mostly 2.2/2.1 standard while the lads that did the cert first are in the higher 2.1 category with any of the lads near 1.1 did the cert too.

I also have to agree, I'm in the second year of the higher cert in business and I have loved the course. We have more options in what area of business we want to specialize in next year than those in 3rd year who went straight into the hons degree even though out first and second year class's/exams were the same.

I know that by looking at the CAO you would think that because the BBS is higher points then it would be better but its not the case. Its the same modules for the first 2 years and then you will have to option to leave with a qualification or progress to the level 7 business course for one extra year or many different level 8's in the college for 2 extra years. :D

the only thing id have to argue about the higher cert is you need a 55% average to go into bbs 3rd year and you won't get your cert if you fail any exams whereas in the bbs degree the only time your average counts is when your in your final year.

Yeah you should defo go the route of the Higher Cert, I think it was better because its not quite as intense as BBS 1st year, and it kinda makes that progression from leaving cert into college a bit better, and it dose give you more options for 3rd year!

It depends on the type of person you are. Im doing the Bachelor degree & im glad i picked it because i might have left after the 2 years. I know i have to stick it out or else i get nothing you know. But it does depend on who you are i think. :) Hope this helps a little :)

i'm in 4th year (in ITT) - i think a cert is best (its still 4 year to complete the hons degree right?). You never know what might happen in 2-3 years time, if you for any reason needed to leave college etc you'd have a qualification behind you. Extra practise sitting exams will also stand you. Good luck

def do the cert and then if you feel like continuing your studies after 2 years you can believe me 4 years is a long long time!!
