Grrr... being logged out

It's really, really bad now. I'm being logged out in seconds. I log in, edit a post and press save and it says I don't have permission to do so due to being logged out.
And weird stuff is going on too - like I'll only get logged out in certain forums (pretty much straight after I go in there). These forums keep changing - seems to be The Ladies' Lounge and Humanities at the moment.
And the thanks button logs me out too - in certain forums. I'll press the thanks sign, then the thanks won't register and I'll get logged out. The clearing cookies, "remember me" things don't apply. I'm using IE.

It's an issue on your machine, so shouldn't be in feedback!!!

It will log me out too after 3-5 mins unless I keep moving around the forums, I just use Remember Me now. Haven't had any issues with Thanks or such.

It's happening to me too in IE6 (work PC so I can't upgrade it). Getting script errors too.

EDIT: Just happened to me again with Opera 9.63.

It's a proxy caching problem in my experience.

I can remember having similar problems in college with scripts and CSS files caching/not caching correctly because they had thousands of people using one or two proxies.

Nope, it's on all three machines I use.

Thanks for your rolleyes symbol - it was really necessary. Now, I know jacksh1t about computers but people are always recommending that cookie/remember me stuff - it don't work for me. And people always ask what browser you're using whenever this complaint is brought up, hence my mentioning of it.

Merely going into Personal Issues at the moment just logs me out - it's a pain in the ass.

Dudess are you connecting to Boards from home or at work/school/collage ?

Does it happen with other browsers (Firefow or Chrome)

Do you notice this on other sites where you need to log in ?

Do you have any antispam/malware software installed?

What Antivirus program are you using?

Maybe take this opportunity to learn to type really fast.

Although it might be a technical issue on your computers, would it be a good idea (perhaps better posted in development) to allow users to define the amount of time before logging out (e.g. 5/10/20 mins since last action, log out when I navigate away from boards, don't automatically log me out, etc)?

Have you tried downloading a different browser llike Firefox?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 35,945 Mod ✭✭✭✭dr.bollocko

I advise you partition your main hdd.
Create an XP SP2 VM on the partition with no AV.
Attempt connection with chrome, firefox and IE.
Write a script to catch the time out time and report back to me.

in the next 5 mins or so though. Im off to bed soon.

When I'm in my girlfriend's I don't check the "remember me" button and it logs me out every 10mins I think or thereabouts. It's a bit crap

    Both.
Does it happen with other browsers (Firefow or Chrome)
For some reason, even though I've the Firefox icon on my work computer, I can't access it.
Do you notice this on other sites where you need to log in ?
    No.
Do you have any antispam/malware software installed?
    Not that I know of.
What Antivirus program are you using?

Heh, my speed is 80+ wpm now. I'd be ****ed if I was a slow typist.

    [Start] > [run]

    Paste in;

    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

    [Enter]
