I don't know what you mean by the green railcar but the new 22000 class multiple units have 72 seats per carriage but it varies.

    See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IE_22000_Class

The new three car intercity railcars generally have 192 seats

The 2900 class railcars, as seen on the Conolly to Maynooth/Drogheda commuter services have 185 seats, and space for 634 standing in a four-car setup. Although that amount of people standing makes for a truly horrendous Calcutta-style experience.

The newer railcars have carriages that are a bit longer than the commuter ones.

There are four distinct types of DEMU which would be green and 'diesel equivalent of the DART'; although if you mean the ones which are permanently formed in 4 (or 8) they're the 2900 class mentioned above.

Broadly speaking there are two main types of diesel railcar on Irish Rail.

First off is the Commuter railcars (Class 2600, Class 2700, Class 2800, all of them in groups of two cars, and the largest group, the Class 29000, which come in groups of 4 and unlike the previous 3 classes, are not interoperable).
That is, you can have a train that is a mix of 2600, 2700 and/or 2800, but a 29000 cannot be paired with anything other than another 4 car set. So that rules out a 6 car set including that class.

Then there's the Intercity railcars, of which there is only one type, the Class 22000, which come in 3 and 6 car varieties.

The 22000s have roughly somewhere between 64 - 72 seats per car, while the Commuters, (at least the 29k variety) generally have about half that, something in the 30s per car, as they're designed to carry sardine can loads of commuters, and to facilitate large scale boarding and disembarking with quarter-car doors (i.e. no matter where in the car you are, you are no more than a quarter-carriage from an exit).
The Intercity 22000s on the other hand, only have end doors similar to the Intercity carriages.

As mentioned above there are 5 types of railcars the japanese 2600,2800 and the 2200 and the Spanish 2700 and 29000 . Of which the 29000 is the most poupular which are made up of sets of 4. The 2600 and 2800 class are the only ones which can be mixed together for passenger purposes and can be in sets of 2, 4, 6, 8 . The 22 class are the new edittion to the fleet and comprise of sets of three or six . All railcars have there own battery ,generator and diesel engine. The 29000 class has 48 seats per carriage (with less on disabled toilet carriages ) and provision for twice that standing.
