    Hi,

I bought this usb soundcard today http://musical-instruments.pricegrabber.co.uk/recording-accessories/m/30323947/

so i could use my creative 5.1 inspire speakers on my laptop.
It took me a few mins to get everything set up correctly and figure out the settings but once I got them all right the sound was great and I'm glad I made the purchase. But now under like 3hrs of having them the sound quality has dropped hugely and it isn't clear at all. It just all of a sudden like dropped during a song. Its hard to explain it but its kind of a fuzzy sound. Ive tried everything from restarting to installing drivers again etc.
Do you think its a faulty product and that I should bring it back tomorrow?

    Cheers.

Try switching off unit, unplug the usb cable count to 10, replug and switch on again. (I have a USB Audiophile which has a quirk fixed this way.)

Have you visited the manufacturers website? There could be newer drivers you could try (or indeed older ones).

Got it! New drivers seemed to have sorted the problem!

Very weird, so it sounds okay for a while and then degrades, what system are you using and does the system come with an onboard audio chip?

I know yeah its very annoying! I'm using a Dell Vostro 1700 and so yeah has an onboard audio chip.

I'm getting this error now when i go into device manager and click on 'update drivers'

    'This device cannot start(code 10)

Audio drivers often clash, you could do worse than repeat your query over in the Windows forum

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=105

I bet someone has an angle on this.

Have you disabled the on-board sound in the system BIOS?
