Hi, they will monitor your thyroid hormone very carefully throughout the pregnancy. They may adjust your medicine depending on the blood tests.

    Hi OP,
Im sorry I dont know the answer to your question, but I do have an underactive thyroid and will be curious to how you get on.

I have been a bit worried myself, as I hope to try for a baby in about a year or two, but have heard people with a u/thyroid can have problems conceiving.. Is that true do you know?

You will have to ask your doc about that. From personal experience we got pregnant immediatly, but again that is just what happened to us, we were also using a very unsafe method of contraception for 10.5 years prior to that and did not get pregnant once.

My husband once said to me to keep away from the net for things like these - in the end of the day pick a doctor that you feel that you can trust, prepare a list of questions and ask him. Yes, you will be monitored carefully during pregnancy.

Hi everyone, I met with the consultant today and came out of there feeling relieved. She was very nice and explained to me that i can expect to see the amount of eltroxin to double coming towards the end of the pregancy. That the next step is to monitor the levels every 4 weeks and make sure im getting enough medicine. I was delighted to know that i will be seen so often.

She did ask had i problems concieving it took 4 yrs with baby number 1 and over 2 on this one. I had been reffered to a specialist but i came good in the end.. she did say that this was probably due to the time i concieved that my meds had been adjusted, in saying that i also suffer from PCOS so this is a factor to in concieving.

I do agree with CathyMoran that talk to your doctor and ask as many questions as possible, keep an eye on your cylcle and really keep a good record of dates. A friend of mine had to m/c and she discovered she had an underactive thyroid that this hadnt helped and she was monitored closely too. I know everyone is different, but i suppose u do have to know these things.

I thought i was nearer the 12 weeks today but dating scan showed 8w +3 days. Just when reaching the 12 week mark was so important to me. I now have 4 more weeks of worry. But i do feel a lil better knowing that im really going to be monitored.
