Well, if the hairstyle of his successor is anything to go by, I'd say his designs aren't much to look forward to either :D

I wonder did he get the inspiration for the 5 series from his face? Because he is one fugly b*stard.

I have to say I liked a lot of his work, as HashSlinging says it can take a while to grow on one. That said, Irish buyers are very conservative when it comes to design.

Chris Bangle is quitting "to pursue his own design-related endeavors beyond the auto industry

^^^ Does this mean he got the sack and no one else wanted to hire him:D

I like the current 5series, don't like the 3 series (except for the coupe!), hate the 1 series (again, except for the coupe), the X5 is half decent looking, haven't seen the new 7series in the flesh but absolutely hated the design of the old 7series.

You're pretty much my polar opposite so! I like the 1 series, the 3 series saloon (but not the coupé), like the old 7 a lot and think the X5 is a pig.:)

I like the 5 series and 7 series(current models) They were both much nicer than the previous generations. I also like the new 3 series coupe its very nice and the saloon is ok too once it has the M-sport kit. The 6 series is also a very good looking car imo. The one series hatch is pointless and the coupe is ok but looks a bit like a compact from some angles. The X5 is a nice machine but the X6 is a let down.

In other words I think he did well over all and maybe its not so good that he is leaving.

Not to mention the X6 ................

Which 7 series do you mean? I loved the look of the old 7 series, the E38, produced between 95-2001, I never liked the look of the E65. It looked just wrong, the old 7 series (E38), looked understated, sporty....specially in black, with a nice set of BMW alloys.

I meant the E65. I think the E38 can look well too, although I can't think of a more unflattering colour for it than black.;)

As one American critic put it, before Bangle came along, BMW were threading close to the level of blandness championed by Toyota Camrys.

You may not like Bangle, but at least his designs werent boring.

They're what boring would be if it was trying to be quirky.
