girlfriend works in retail and her hours have just been cut to 20 a week, same as everyone else in the store, they said its a tempory move but personally i believe it could be a longer term thing as the store has seen a drop in turnover, is she entitled to any assistance the fact shes only working a half week? she has been in full employment for over 10 years,

As I recall only if she works 3 or less days a week (hours don't matter) but I'm sure someone else can confirm/give more detailed information.

    Yup.

You'll get a form to bring into your boss, that he will have to stamp/sign. It will have 7 days on it (mon-sun, obviously) and you've to mark the days you did and didn't work.

You don't get dole for sundays, though. So if you're working Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, you'll get 4 days of dole.

I was working in dunnes two years ago, part time. Of about 8 of us part timers that i worked directly with, i was the only one claiming this, as the others were just too lazy to go to the welfare office to find out about it.

    Bet they regret it now.

I got it slightly wrong! it's not a 3 day week it's 20 hours over five days, so any day she works she cant claim for even if its only 2 hours work that day, so her employer has made her part time instead of putting her on a 3 day week,,:(
