Buying a laptop advice

Got about 600 euro budget max.. Only need it for web, bit of writing (Word, maybe specific creative writing packages), bit of Excel, photos and Football Manager game! What do you recommend? Would it be cheaper to buy up North?

Or should I put a bit more to budget and get a MacBook (cheapest I've seen online is 668 sterling)? I've had awful trouble with viruses on my PC and heard Macs are better for that? Had one for work years ago (those Blueberry coloured ones) and had no trouble with them.

Anyway, what should I get? And where? And Mac vs normal laptop.

(Oh, and I've about 5000 songs for iTunes too)/(Oh, and how much memory would I need for my uses?)
