Witnesses for wedding

Hello all

I am trying to find out if i can hire 2 witnesses for a civil marriage in Belfast.
My fiance and i are engaged 2 years and due to unforseen circumstances[not
pregnant] we are getting married in private so our family and friends are not
attending. I have heard of just asking people off the street to be witnesses but i would try and entertain other ideas first.

I don't think you can hire witnesses, there may be some legality issue with paying for your witnesses, so I'd suggest checking that out first.

You could talk to the Registrar, they may be able to make suggestions in terms of what others have done, or how they may be able to help you out.

I thought you had to supply the names and DOB and PPS no of your witnesses a few weeks before you got married. It may be different in the north. Are you able to contact your registry office to ask?
