    Hey all
Wanted to get yer opinions on the C4 before I go see one on Saturday.

Its a 06 with 11k miles for 9950 so it looks like a steal to me.

Theres also a Ford Focus 06 a little more mileage for the same price

:confused::confused: I thought he was an Aussie... Made a complete balls of drivin thru a puddle too apparently... The ESB will be chasin his ass for weeks to replace that pole....:D

They are a decent car, what model were you looking at? My oul lad used to have a Coupe 1.6VTR+ in white with the Citroen bodykit and moon roof. Looked the business.

Seb Loeb is french, There was about 5 WRC spec C4s competing at the weekend. Atkinson who took out the pole normally drives an impreza, borrowed the C4 for the weekend,

He's driving the C4 because there are no Subaru's to drive this year. He's looking for his drive for the rest of the season with the Citroen Junior team apparently...

Just thinking, the 1.6HDi is the one to go for too. The 1.4 petrol is a bit weedy. 1.6 petrol is a decent-ish yoke too.

father used to have the 1.4 tis a grand yoke. Comfortable to drive.

98th out of 113 cars in the 2007 JD Power survey....

They had some reliability issues early on. But current models are quite reliable. Get a 1.6 HDi 92BHP (110BHP all the better) if you can. Citroën diesels are practically bulletproof.

EDIT : Depending on what Ford you are looking at, if it's diesel there is a good chance that the engine is a PSA(Peugeot/Citroën) engine.

I had one for a weekend as a hire car. I was very impressed, has the refinement, toys and comfort of a much more expensive car. The 1.6 HDi is a wonderful engine.

    Thanks guys,
Its more worrying about reliability than anything else.

My Da has 00 diesel Xsara that is like a tank but I just hear so many things about Citreons.
If the engine starts everyday I ll be happy.

There are 3 cars I'm looking at on carzone that I ll go see on Saturday.
I'll be trading in a 06 Almera SXE with 77Km.

    C4 06 50Km €8,888
    C4 06 18Km €9,950
    Focus 06 48Km €9,950

Why is the Focus a trade sale? Its a bit bizarre that one...

Dash / Steering wheel is just a bit too strange for me on the C4 (C5 too). Focus 1.4 is horrible to drive as you've really got to wring it's neck to get any sort of reasonable performance, not sure what the C4 1.4 is like though.

Pretty much, though you have your statutory rights regardless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,099 ✭✭✭Johnny Bitte

feck that, wonder why its like that.

Of the cars you've listed, I'd go for the C4 with the low mileage - the one in Duffy's. I assume you'll get a decent warranty as it's being sold by a Citroën main dealer, as is the one in Lismard but the lower mileage model is worth the extra few Euro.

EDIT: Just looked again - both C4s are 1.4 petrol - not a bad machine but a 1.6 diesel would be better. The model you linked to comes with a 2 year Citroën warranty which is an added bonus.

Could you stretch to this HDi? > http://www.carzone.ie/search/Citroen/C4/1.6-HDi-/200841190389505/advert Ask about warranty if you do consider it.

Its amazing, we got stuck with three haggle more on the pri low mileage 2005 C4's, no-one looked at them for months and then in the space of two days they all sold. They're an unusual car, quite underrated. I suggest you haggle and get the lowest mileage one cheaper. Also, as far as I can remember, Citroen delaers in Ireland have access to a MAPFRE Two year warranty scheme which is pretty good and should put your mind at ease. Ask for it as part of the deal !

You are correct but not all Citroën dealers participate in the used warranty scheme - some do their own thing when it comes to used warranty.

As do we....actually found our own in-house warranty more comprehensive than the MAPFRE one.

Just to be clear, Citroën only use MAPFRE for recovery. When it comes to the cost of repair, it's a mechanism between the dealer and the distributor - not MAPFRE.
