“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

The legality of this troubling me, if it has no doors but still has mirrors and everything else is working properly and I got stopped by the gaurds and Im wearing seatbelt is it actually illegal.

If it has no doors i cant imagine it would pass the NCT for a start ! it would be classed as unroadworthy.. mind you motorbikes dont have doors....hmmm

I'm not taking the piss, im honestly not sure if this is against the law.

I'm guessing the structural integrity might be compromised by the lack of doors, thus it would fail a test of road worthiness/safety.

Regardless of the legality of it, driving it on a public road would be incredibly retarded

    Driving legally

When you have your provisional licence, you are ready to start learning to drive.

Before taking any vehicle on to the road you must be able to answer 'yes' to the following questions:
    .....
If you are learning to drive a category B vehicle that is over four years old but not a taxi, is the vehicle roadworthy and does it have an up-to-date National Car Test (NCT) Certificate on the windscreen?
    ....

Surely it is not roadworthy if it has no doors?:D

A mate of mine has an old Toyota Carina without doors, a boot or a bonnet that he uses as his 'field car' for rallying around a field. Savage craic, completely different sense of speed looking at the ground wizz by without doors. Never goes on the road so no issues about the legality.

    doors are handy though.

The car would probably be deemed to be defective as per section 20 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961.

Therefore, it would be an offence to use this vehicle in a public place.

Are you trying to up your power to weight ratio by shedding weight or what?

How are ya gonna get in and out without doors?:D

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

    I've done it :D

    Mine was black though.

Doors can be put on, horrible plastic things with warped plastic windows so visibility without them was much better. Even in the height of summer it was damn cold without the doors, and you don't want to pull up next to a truck with a side exhaust

I don't think section 20 applies here because it relates to

"... defect affecting the vehicle or combination which is such that it is, when in use, a danger to the public ..."

I don't think that deliberately taking a door off a car causes it to become a danger to the public although I wouldn't argue it with a garda at the side of the road because the garda may form the opinion that the car is in unsafe condition and impound it for a safety reasons or other.

I think it's a case of that all components that belongs to the car should be in working order. Missing doors or missing bulbs same difference.

A missing door is fail in NCT www.ncts.ie/nctmanual.pdf

Think about it though, there maybe a point to it..

I estimate that it takes about 5 seconds to open and close a car door.

Say on average you do this about 4 times a day thats 20 seconds of life you get back. Thats 121 minutes a year!!.

2 hours a year opening car doors, fook that I am taking mine off too.
2 hours a year is a lot in terms of masterbation...
