i'm not asking for med advice or trying to break the forum charter, but has anyone on here ever dealt with it?

Was there an obvious cause. Describe the sound.

I have it, though not sure if it's actually do to damage or possibly something neuropsychological. I've had it since I was 13 due to a concert. I'm 28 now. You just cope with it, it's amazing how the mind can filter stuff out.

Do see a specialist to have your hearing checked. Since my hearing was fine, the specialist concluded that it was due not to loud volume but to something unexplainable. Sometimes I think the mind just goes screwy and forgets to phase out the natural background noise within people's auditory nerves.

    .

Guys, i'd be extremely grateful if posters cold try abnd avoid diagnosing the cause type of the OPs tinnitus.

Generally we close threads that ask about a person's own personal medical problems, but I'll leave it open if we're just going to talk about non phamacological ways to control it, and as long as the OP is aware that it's really important to see a doctor about new tinnitus.

    Cheers fellas :D

to be honest with ye both i don't think i can pinpoint a specific cause or any trauma to my ear etc that might have started it. i've seen my gp and i am waiting on her referral to see a specialist. there is an information day in one of the local hotels during the week, i'll probably pop in for a look
