A mate of mine has just had his Toyota Glanza stolen from the front of his house in celbridge.:mad:/:(

It was taken between 1-5am this morning.

It is silver with a turbo bonnet, and carbon fibre eyebrows.

It no longer has TRD on the black visor...it is now plain black with a small street legal sticker on the bottom right.

It has a reasonably loud exhaust.

It is a NON TURBO, just has a turbo bonnet.

The reg is 97-KE-8188. Of course any of the above could have now been striped/changed.

Would be very very grateful for any help, information etc

    So keep your eyes peeled..

    Cheers......

Man i bet they where pissed when they realised it was a non-turbo...

But seriously i hope they catch the scum.

It seems that robbing cars is on the rise again, theres a good few lads have had cars robbed or broken into over on the isdc site. Its a kick in the teeth.

Anyways best of luck with the car.. Some advice too.. Log onto all the modified Irish motor websites and post on there too as a guy I know had a e-86 Corrolla stolen and posted on a few sites and got a call from a guy in Meath to say he definaltely seen it.. so its worth a go for your friend to do.....

While they might be having a laugh, the fact that its a non turbo might mean more chance of getting it back, they will more than likely have been after a turbo so when they realized it was a non turbo it may have been dumped somewhere

Yeah i'd say they only took it because they thought it was a turbo.
And yeah the owner has it up on every modified car website as well.
Just thought I would add it here as well for you fine gents.:)
*fingers crossed someone will spot it!*

Good luck getting that back!! The cops in Ireland are a joke. My brothers car was stolen also but they broke into the house and took his keys. Instead of the cops taking finger prints etc. they were almost accusing him of fraud, saying he sold the car and did nothing to find the car or robbers. His laptop, phone, Ipod, and wallet were all taken from the house as well and this just made the cops more doubtful about where the car was. They said "i doubt a student would have all that kit" and asked him was he making some of it up to claim from insurance! They're an excuse for cops. English cops are way better and actually try find stolen items or thieves.

Carbon fibre eyebrows , right !
It has a reasonably loud exhaust.

As in Quiet or as in not loud enough to wake anybody as it was driven off ??
It is a NON TURBO, just has a turbo bonnet.

Why does it have a turbo bonnet , is it to attract attention ...oops ??

    www.driver.ie
    www.modifiedmotors.ie

Loads more to list but u get the picture.

Did your mate fit the bonnet afterwards could be an issue,I hope your mate decleared the turbo bonnet to the insurance company, other wise they may not pay out if it's been written off.

I can't imagine a new bonnet would have to be declaired, it doesn't change how the car handles or performs.

The bonnet doesn't actually do anything to the cars performance or safety its purely assetic so its shouldnt impact his insurance in anyway.

It does not change how the car handles or performs , that is correct .

Can you tell us what it does change in terms of its overall insurability please !

<declaration>I work in insurance and have mailed these photos on to 'people who know about these things' < /declaration>

Yeah he fitted it about 3 months ago, straight off a Glanza turbo.
Its an original Toyota item but even if it wasn't, I wouldn't Imagine they would have a problem with it.....?

I saw part of the back of a small similarly-shaped car on the Clonee-Lucan back-road totally burnt out today.
It was not there on Friday - although I didn't get a good look at it, it could have been a Micra/Punto either.

btw that road is treacherous tonight.

    Thanks for the info!

Hopefully it's not it but that's close enough to celbridge, so definetly possible.
Might have a look tomorrow weather permitting.

Well thats what you would hope, but that bonnet would make it more attractive to robbers as they think it's a turbo.

If it's found burnt out or summat i'd remove the bonnet before they insurance accessor could see it. As far as i've know they try and get out of paying on very small technicalities.

Insurance company may a problem with it becuase the bonnet may have drawn attention to the car.

I hope it works out for your mate, not my favourite car but it not a nice feeling to have your car robbed.

That was the answer Graham999 _should_ have given and did not!

The incident was a theft not a crash .

His answer may have been correct if it related to an accidental collision but it is entirely wrong where the modification to the car was possibly what led to it being stolen .
