My girlfriend is going to Causeway Dental in Ballymoney at the moment and heard this on the news

"Colin Howell, a 50-year-old dentist from Castlerock in Co Derry, was accused of murdering his former wife Lesley Howell and an RUC officer, Trevor Buchanan, whose bodies were found in a car in Castlerock in May 1991"

Pretty shocking, the practise just has a recorded message when you ring them. She paid for her work by credit card, I presume that would be insured? He is a great dentist, hope everything works out in some resolution. The girlfriend is racking her brain as she had some botched work done by other dentist's and she seemed to be back on track with him :(

    Hi Borderfox

Thats really terrible shocking news, I go to that surgery to. I would highly reccommend David Wilson who works there. I found him to be very good. You can PM me if you have any questions.

    Hi Borderfox,
I am also a former patient of Colin Howell's. I paid him a substantial sum of money in advance of treatment. The treatment hasn't happened as he is now in police custody. And I am in limbo ! Did your girlfriend pay in advance also ? I would like to hear from anyone else who is in the same boat as myself. I know that there are plenty of us out there. I seem to be coming up against a brick wall in trying to get my money back. Is everyone having the same problem ?

My parter had paid by Visa card and got on to Visa within 60 days and is in the process of getting a refund (hopefully) The person who has been appointed is to close the company down, she was also told the only was to get cash/cheque paid was to seek legal action. Can you keep in touch and let us know how you get on?

I will keep in touch. I paid by sterling bank draft. Have been in touch with my solicitor so we are awaiting a reply from whoever. Am due to have treatment carried out with a new dentist next week and have to pay out the whole whack again! So am very anxious to get my money back. I will pursue him through every court in the land though in order to do this.

Got a letter on Monday written on Causeway headed paper saying that Colin Howell's practice has ceased. What a surprise!! Ongoing treatment must be completed elsewhere. To contact my own solicitor and giving the name and address of Howell's solicitor. So it looks like money will be paid back. Presume your partner received same. Had my implant placed by new dentist yesterday. Feel like I've been in a fight!

Visa are going through the motions at the moment, glad to hear you got the implant in. Let me know how you get in with the solicitors, my girlfriend is more worried about not having a guarantee for the work done so far.
