I know this has been asked to death but I have tried everything!! I can't play FIFA 09 online. When I select ranked play 9 times out of 10 I cant get a game. This is driving me mad !! This seems to be a NAT issue?? I can only get NAT TYPE 3. I have eircom broadband and have forwarded all the ports in the manual and still no joy. All other games are fine. Eircom wont help me... the youtube video didnt work, using eircom@eircom.net and passwords not working either. I tried loads of other things I found on here too. The only thing I'm not sure about is the static ip address. Tried the cmd config/all and not sure where to find my ip address?? This is driving me up the wall:( All I want to do is play FIFA!!! Please help.

When I enter all the ip address and set up wirelessly and test connection it says it cant obtain ip address...

If your goin for nat type 1 (which is what ive settled for) you don't enter the ip address manually. its only ppoe and mtu that you have to set manually.

I've my ppoe login & pwd as broadband1... Seems to work..

I have fifa 09 aswell and do seem to get better connections to online games.. Must try and get a game with ya if you get set up....

What pisses me off is that my psp gets nat 2. don't know why... Eircom are a load of donkey balls.....

Good luck man.

Thanks for the reply, I have tried all them eircom passwords the lot and still no joy. I did exactly what that "Keep it Carlow" Vid told me, used eircom@eircom.net and loads of differant passwords and still nothing... Rang eircom and they play dumb..Why is it that the odd time I can get a game then the next minute nothing?? If I do get it sorted I'll give you a match but at this rate it will be on FIFA 15!!!!:):)

factory reset the router in the router web page, give it a minute to boot
then turn off router firewall
then do the pppoe trick as shown in video

all this ='s NAT 1

I have reset the router a number of times eg. when I added the ports etc. and nothing changed. I will try the Factory reset later and see if that works, lord knows I have tried everything else!! Is this a big problem for everyone on eircom?? cos if it is you would think they would do something about it!!
PS. I dont ever recall a "factory reset" button on the web page... do you mean reset the small button on back of modem??

no i was saying reset at page,
ya it doesn't say factory reset, just reset
or alternatively hold the button for 20 seconds or so till the lights at front start flashing, same thing
have you latest eircom router firmware
is it 2247 model
get it here http://broadbandsupport.eircom.net/download/netopia/firmware/2247NWG-firmware.bin
and install in router webpage, new feature with it, is has built in port forward for playstation network instructions i wrote here at my clan page, heres a cap

http://i39.tinypic.com/2ag7m9t.png

but you don't need to forward ports if you get nat 1 sorted, so concentrate on that,

Thank for that, I will try that later. I do have that router and it does have PS3 games in a dropdown menu in Expert mode for when I want to open ports... is this the same thing?? I'm not at home so I cant remember exactly what it say's... Also should I disable all the ports I have open so far or what??

ya those games listed are pc games and ports

Still no joy  should I disable all the ports that I have opened so far, then do the ppoe thing?? Is this NAT things always a huge problem with eircom?? and why is it only with FIFA that I can't play online?? Also why is it that I can get a match the odd time??

make sure these ports are open for fifa 09 online

HTTP 80 TCP/IP
HTTPS 443 TPC/IP
Peer Game Connection 3659 TPC/IP
Roomsvr 30440-30449 TPC/IP
The following UDP ports must be opened for game packets, for the outbound and inbound connections.
Game Packets 3658 UDP
News Ticker 9570 UDP

you need to pppoe, this bypass's all the port configurations

if you factory reset like i said earlier, and pppoe straight away from there, using broadband1 as username and password, it'll work
if you factory reset properly all your current port forwards will be gone

i'm on eircom, i have the same router, it does work
but people need to follow instructions

Im having the same problem, to anyone saying follow the videos or reset the router it does not work!!! I have tried about 100 times using both eircom@eircom.net and broadband1 as the username. I set my mates PS3 on eircom using the video and its worked no bother but it wont work on mine at all so it must be something different.

:mad:OK here is the deal... I have factory reset, and all my ports are gone... thats grand, so I know I have reset it ok. The pppoe name and password broadband1 doesnt work. the user name is eircom@eircom.net and password I use to connect my router is password1 I have tried to use these for the ppoe and still no joy... I have done the eircom@eircom for name and P/word Is is really starting to bug the s.h.i.t out of me... You shouldn't need a poxy degree in computer science to get a match online. Please tell me as to why I can connect to a match the odd time?? and I can get that BAP match (10 v's 10) no bother...
Thanks:mad::mad: FIFA can go suck my fat one........

See if you can enable UPnP on your router, also look if it has a DMZ, then place the Playstations IP address in the DMZ.

No need to mess around with any ports then as ALL of them will be opened the Playstation and Fifa will have full access to the internet.

I have enabled upnp and there is no DMZ on my Netopia router. Thanks anyway...

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭Jarrath

Wonder if its worth buying a new/second hand router? Maybe one that has a dmz port on it.. And not a netopia brand.. I hear good things about Netgear routers...

OK the latest on my NAT saga is....
1: I got NAT TYPE 1:D by clicking enable in Bridging on my router in Expert Mode. I was delighted:D
New Problem now.
Now if I do this I cannot use the internet on my laptop at the same time. eg. I play online and nobody can use the laptop till I change back the bridging. (I have to restart router after, and this can take ages)
I can only do one or the other.... have NAT TYPE 1 OR use laptop.
Is there a way to set up that I can do both?? I am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel with all the help I am getting here!! Please help me with the last piece of this puzzle!!

take a look at the 2 screenshots of my netopia router. I got NAT1 using this setup and I could also browse the net at the same time on my laptop. Disable media server on the PS3. I have uPnP enabled on PS3 but not compatible with netopia router so does not matter.

I switched to a netgear router and can now get NAT2. Fully uPnP compatible so got NAT2 without port forwarding but did that anyway for completeness. Can also do media sharing. Router is netgear DG824G. In current argos catalog for 104.99 but you should get it cheaper online. Be aware there are 2 versions of this. One for DSL (eircom etc.) and one for cable (UPC, chorus).

You can DMZ on this netgear router also. Not possible on the netopia one.

Did you try to disable media Server connection on the PS3. I had a problem like yours but was sorted out witth PPpoE password and Username. Try the media server.
