Dublin Bus drivers are due to stage a two-hour protest outside the Green Party Head office in Suffolk Street in Dublin this morning.

The action, which began at 11am, is not expected to disrupt bus services.

The demonstration is being held to highlight what organisers say is the Green Party's silence over the removal of over 300 buses from the fleets of Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann.

A spokesperson for the drivers, Owen McCormack, says the party's silence contradicts its election promises on transport.

I can't see this getting much attention unfortunitly.
Not exactly the weather for it:D

There will be little or no additional support I think due to the appaling conditions outside:(

They say it wont disrupt services, not much of a protest then.

If they wanted a real protest they should drop everything and divert all busses to O Connel St and make their way to the dail.

And the public would instantly hate them and offer no support due to the monumental disruption this would cause

The public should stand up and support them, they will be the loosers in the long run.

True, but we are a fickle bunch.

As is shown on here constantly people blame Dublin bus for poor service and will blame them for any disruption caused by strikes and blame them for service reduction rather than blaming the minister or DCC for high level incompedance which generates the whole mess in the first place

Divert what buses to O'Connell St? They're all already there. I suppose the 17a could make an appearance! :D

Totally agree. If I'd know about it before today, I probably would have gone too. I've no confidence in it achieving anything though, this government don't give a damn about public transport - once they keep their friends in SIMI happy, they're content.

That's an odd way to solve the bus crisis in Dublin but if a few fellas in signs can get DB services working properly I'll take it :D:D:D
