What's all this about childhood then?

The whole Faraday and his mother angle being introduced in e0503 has brought back into mind one of the original conundrums of the show from way back in series 1 - that of the islands "interest" in children (remember all unexplained attention that Aaron was getting?)

I'm just guessing here, but I reckon that the American Asian scientist fella (can't remember his name) is a shoo-in for Marvin Candle's son from this seasons opening scene..

Childhood is a common thread running through various strands of the show - Claires son Aaron, Michaels son, Sons daughter, Rooseau's daughter, those two kids from "The Other 48 Days" in s01, Locke and his father (and Sawyer), Kate and her parents, Son and her father, Ben and his father.....

You've also potentially got Faraday, Penny, Jack (his Dad has a definite connection with the island), the American Asian fella, the English scientist wan with the nosebleed, all potentially being connected to the island through birth or conception.

Then there's all the references to fertility in season 3...

Can't put my finger on it but I am sure this angle is gonna make up a major part of the endgame whatever it is...

Either that or its really lazy writing to have so many characters with Mommy/Daddy issues!

We know why Aaron got so much attention, he was the first child to be successfully born on the island for a long time.

Aaron is gonna have some major role to play and a flashfoward on him would be pretty good

Well after the past few episodes I'd say that children born on the island are special like Des is. The rules of time may not affect them the same as other people.

Then again Walt was special and "Did Walt ever appear in a place he wasn't supposed to be?" (Bea Klugh) sounds like time travel to me. And he wasn't an on island baby.

You're in luck then. There's a scene this season that is a flashforward of both arron and ye jung(sp?) on the island together as teens.

If Aaron has a special connection to the island then why did Claire visit Kate and tell her not to bring Aaron back?

The island is not all a bed of roses (smokey, murder, intrigue) so perhaps Claire was looking for his well being but then again the outside world has so much more danger.

i don't think that was really Claire, it was the something from the island. prob the same person who was in control of Echo's dead brother

John also has a special connection to the island and he had to die in order to save it; understandable that Claire wouldn't want the same fate for Aaron if he does indeed have a similar connection.

Also, as someone else already said, we don't know that that was Claire and not merely a manifestation of Claire used to deliver the message to Kate.

Echos brother apppearing was a manifestation of the smoke monster (i think this was confirmed), Claire only appeared in Kates dream so maybe Claire was Kates conscience telling her to keep aaron safe.
