    Firstly i'll start with telling you that i'm starting a new job in 2 weeks where i'm gonna have to drive through the m50 twice a day/ 5days a week/for 5 months,

    I was looking online at the possibility of getting an e-toll pass thingymabob
    But understandably i don't want to be forking out so much especially in todays economic fiasco and i'll not start moaning about being ripped off with toll charges,taxes, vrt etc.

    Then i had an idea;
    I've already recieved "photo" evidence of having passed through,even though it wasn't even the same type of car( i drive a black passat, pic was of a bright focus!) on both occasions and the reg plate wasn't remotely visible, so it got me thinking, would a video account work out cheaper if they sometimes couldn't recognise my reg when i pass through or have they already found a way around this?

    Whaddaya all think?:confused::confused:

    So you're looking for ways to avoid the toll? Ah come on!

    Oh and http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055348839

    Probably easier to just take off your reg plates.

    Ok then, let me rephrase my question ;)

    How accurate is the video account recognition?
    Anyone have any experience of this type of account?

    The video recognition would need to fail about one time in 5 for you to save anything (2.50 vs. 2.08) over a tag. They are not THAT unreliable, 1 in 10 is far more realistic.

    Get a toll tag, €30 with €4.40 of credit. You pay €2.20 each time instead of the €3.00, and if you go through twice a day, 5 days a week for 5 months, so you save 80c each time, 5x2, x20 days/month, x5 months

    I was considering this too. To be fair to he OP he is right. I went through the toll twice one day but the website was down so I couldnt pay. I rang up and they asked how many journeys and I said 1. Your man just said yes sir, one journey northbound (had gone south as well). I then asked, "Sorry, out of interest, how many times has that car gone through since eflow started? Im not the only user of the car" He told me it had been through 3 times including the one I was paying for. At the time I had been through it (and paid in full) for about 8 journeys.

    Sorry to bring up an old thread but just a quick question. I'm thinking of signing up for a video account as it seems the cheapest option for me. I don't use it too often so I wouldn't get a tag. Are any hidden charges with the video system? i.e my bill would never be any bigger than the cost of my tolls.

    I signed up a while back after constant fines for forgetting to pay.

    Works very well, don't go through often so easy to keep tabs but 100 accurate so far and no more fines, no hidden costs either.
