Just wondering - all those sodium street lights....Are they incandescent and would they fall into the new plan to get rid of them? I was in Thailand last year and noticed that nearly all the street lights were 4 ft flourescent bulbs.

No the bulbs are low pressure sodium lights, not incandescent, They are the most efficient type of light you can get ( more efficient that flourscent), there only problem is that the colouring rendering from them is appalling, but it suits there purpose well.

What do you mean by "colouring rendering"? The colour of these lamps is actually seen as a positive thing in road safety terms ...

I presume he means that it makes them unusable for many other purposes due to the colour/intensity they provide. Not exactly the kind of light you'd want in your living room
