You say you don't have any account papers? Do you have a bank account? €3000 is not an awful big amount so getting a loan should not be too hard provided you walk the walk!

I'd think your best bet would be to begin saving in your local credit union build up a good balance and save regularly and you might qualify for a loan. The banks are very slow to give loans now, are you Irish? it is just your English seems a little fragmented. You will need proof of residency and ID also.

Dealers at the moment want cold hard cash and if you could provide they may reduce costs.

What sort of car are you thinking of buying? Best of luck with your business, it is not easy being in the taxi industry now I'd imagine. A user here called Volvoboy is a taxi driver he maybe able to help also!

There is a rule coming in soon whereas only newer cars can be used for taxis and you should check it out incase your investment proves futile.

On the 4th September 2008 you said you work for cash without a contract.

Do you now have a proper job with a contract that a bank will consider of are you still working cash in hand?

I doubt dealerships will want to help you. They will not want to let cars out on the "slow/drip".

I hope you intend to spend more than €3k on a taxi - I presume you are putting more money to it...

As was already stated, 3k is not that much. surely you have family/friends who could round up that much or even some of that??

Oh the credit union is the best bet for you, having no financial records the banks wont be very helpful. Avoid loan sharks or the like and best of luck with your plans

Vehicle age of not more than nine years

Luggage capacity of 420 litres with capability of containing a folded wheelchair

Minimum interior dimensions to ensure 4 adults may travel in comfort

Not much you're going to get in those parameters for €3k. I wouldn't hail anything like an Astra hatch as a taxi, and I drive one....fine car...but not taxi material.

Not sure if this includes VRT...

I'd say you will have trouble getting a loan with your current situation.
You'd be better off saving the few pound and buying it then.

You could get a Laguna II Estate for that money, and I think it would full the requirements, is that a good choice is another matter...:)

There are a lot of cars out there now for 3k or less. If you walk into a dealer with money in hand they wont let you leave without a car! Even if it says 5k on the car, try givin them 3k and you never know!

I suggest you write a simple business plan, outline how you intend to generate business, operating hours, strategy & how much money you intend to make on a month to month basis - based on that you should apply for a business loan & the bank should be able to evaluate your ability to pay - from the sound of things you are not looking to invest in a 'quality car', which in my opinion would have a negative effect on your business approach & your ability to generate money - therefore effecting your ability to be taken seriously from the bank.
