University Challenge Getting Easier?

I been watching this show for years being a bit of a tv quiz fan and it being one of the last quality ones on offer. (RIP 15 to 1)

Anyway just wondering if anyone else finds this show's questions to be getting easier. I used to be chuffed if I could correctly answer half a dozen but am up to twice that and more these days. I don't think I know any more than I did 2/3 years ago. Though Exeter Uni just mangaged a score of 15 recently which I could have done meself, on me tod.

This is probably a very boring question but I'm interested in others' opinions, if any.

Once you spend enough time in AH, something like University Challenge becomes rather juvenile / trivial . ;)

Maybe they're recycling the questions? Maybe you're getting smarter??

Thanks but thats not it. I'm sure it's getting easier. I need an informed opinion on this one. Could be symptomatic of a deeper malaise.

It's a good point. Watching the brilliant Oxford team last week against Exeter I got about 5-6 correct (was'nt the lady captain brill)! I think it definitely gets easier as you get older and if you do crosswords a lot. The reason maybe is that you have more options for an answer and at some time they will be correct ie; if you know just the name of all Shakespeares plays you can always make a half educated guess, for example If I don't know a quetion on a shakespeare play I always say "A Mid Summer Nights Dream" you'd be amazed how many times I got it right! Having said that UC is still pretty tough though and makes me wish I had the brains to compete on it. Great Quiz, Paxman very good.

And it's a goodnight from Oxford and a goodnight from Exeter and a goodnight from me, Goodnight.

Are you answering the questions properly i.e. before Paxman is giving you answers, or are you just sayign 'yeah, knew that one'. I'll have to check it out and see if I notice a difference. I've always been pretty good at it so should be able to clean up now! :)

I thought she came across as very smug and I wanted to stab her in the face. She did answer the majority of the questions though, so fair play to her. I wonder if she studies a lot, or does she retain details naturally.
