Weird Question

I keep rabbits and I know it's not illegal to kill and eat my rabbits if I wanted to (not that I would), but, is it illegal for me to kill and eat my dog (not that I would)? If so then I think that's a bit screwed up, all animals should have the same treatment. I don't know what made me think of this question but anyway.

I don't think that there is any explicit law making it illegal to eat any sort of animal ...or is there?

Seems to be custom and culture. When we lived in the Scottish islands, the locals were often incredulous that we found the idea of eatling seal meat unacceptable. It was in their history.

so we asked them if they would eat their dog; after all the Chinese eat dog.

    Stunned silence.

And in the US many cat and dog foods are made up of.... cat and dog.

    But imagine serving it ...

and of course in famine times...

Don't misrepresent information like this. That amounted to rumours and hearsay. It was NEVER a case of 'many cat and dog foods' containing cat and dog meat.
Because of persistent rumors that rendered by-products contain dead dogs and cats, the FDA conducted a study looking for pentobarbital, the most common euthanasia drug, in pet foods. They found it. Ingredients that were most commonly associated with the presence of pentobarbital were meat-and-bone-meal and animal fat. However, they also used very sensitive tests to look for canine and feline DNA, which were not found. Industry insiders admit that rendered pets and roadkill were used in pet food some years ago.

Wouldn't most pet rabbits be too fatty to make good eating...?
