Has anyone any idea how to attach barcode to text so it can be wanded in instead of repetive typing project for work. I can do words that are short enough for a normal three inch label for something with ten to twenty words in a setence thanks for your help

I use the CodeDreiNeun (german for Code 39) barcode.

    You can download this here:
    http://www.barcodesinc.com/free-barcode-font/

Just surround your text with an asterix at the start and at the end,and format the text to use the codedreineun font, e.g. *SCANME* when formated with the font will print out as a barcode and when you scan it with a barcode reader it will be scanned as SCANME as if you typed it.

The only problem I see is that you seem to want to encode long text strings. This will lead to very long barcodes, which won't be practical.

A simple solution for this would be to use Word's autocorrect feature. You could use short text strings, which would them be converted to the full sentences that you want to use.

So, in Word, you'd set up something like this.

XYZ100 = "This is a long sentence that occurs frequently"
XYZ101 = "This is a another long sentence that occurs frequently"

You'd then print out a control sheet for the users with the barcodes on them, when the users want to enter the long sentences they could then just scan the barcode.

Alternatively, then could just type the auto correct text directly and word would change it automatically.
If you have a lot of users this might be a more practical option - decent barcode scanners aren't cheap - approx EUR 85 - 100 each.

    Brian
