    Hi

Can anyone tell me a good client management software that other accountancy practices are using.

It´s for managing all aspects of deadlines including VAT, PAYE, IT, CT and CRO. Also, can you give me a general indication on the price?

    Thanks

I have to say that it's quite dissapointing that other members dont contribute to this thread considering that alot of them are working in practice and would be familiar with the software used where they are working. I have to say that the content in this accountancy forum has really done down hill in the last few months. It appears that all people seem to be wililng to post about is how many exemptions they will get or the difference between BPP or DBS.

    Regarding your question.

Relate software sell a product like this specifically for accountants however it is quite expensive approx €8K, takes time to implement and it also makes redundant other software that you may be using.

Other than that I think most practices use their own hybrid versions for managing deadline and client contact details.

A lot of practices use Sage for their practice management software. My accountant however has just replaced it. even though he is a fan of Sage 50

    Hi,

what i find very uselful is office professional, and more sepcifically outlook, i have recently upgraded from outlook 2003 to 2007 and find it grand foe manageing my diaries. you can drag emails into your task list, so they become tasks, and link client records to it, so assuming you prepare accounts on excel, or type a letter in WORD, all those things can be linked through an activity log in outlook,
i must say i think i could be making better use of it, but if you know your due dates, i think its alot cheaper than going through a CRM provider like SAGE

Outlook is very good, problem is most people only know how to use it for e-mail and contacts.

I wud love to know if there is a proper solution for this. We have a customed application in work which works ok but its often forgotten abt. i.e. its not actively used. I think this is an important point when considering what to use. In theory wat i wud like to see is that driving workflow.

I guess whats important in many practices is time billing at the moment or at least trying to maintain a record of such. I think its gone a bit techy at the moment with the introduction of CRM, and while i think its a great thing its not overly feasible for manys a small practice. as a small practioner myself, i have to say i use outlook and sync it with google calendars through a little program on the machine and it lets me see where everyone is and what they are working on. I'm not a "time billing" fan i have to say, and have tried to move more towards the value added approach. Clients do not mind paying when they feel they are getting a service, all that concerns me is people dossing in the office, and i guess from a time billing perspective, it enables you to monitor what staff are working on. It hard to beat a weekly meeting though with them all and ask whats closed or files are open. Im a big fan of technology and have tried to move away from paper in the office and think there is alot of freeware out there to assist small practices though they may not know it.
