Things you just can't bring yourself to do.... (but should?)

I have a hole in my tooth; a proper, decayed, cavernous hole in me molar. It happened about 3 years ago, while eating my dinner, when I chewed something and my tooth just kind of broke.
From time to time it gets quite painful, but I haven't felt any real agony yet. I know that someday, soon (probably on the first day of my next holiday), I'll wake up in hell with it, but until that day, I'm going nowhere near a dentist.
I know it makes no sense, and that I'm just setting myself up for double the amount of pain, misery and cost. But I just can't seem to find any good reason to empty my bank account and head to a dentist (read: torture specialist), when for the most part, I feel fine.

    Anyone else a-procrastinating over anything?

Plenty of things that I should do but don't. Only in retrospect can you see what you should have done instead.

front of one of my teeth is missing also. I can see the filling through it. Happened a few years back. Gets sore the odd time but its not to bad so will leave it there till it falls out. Kinda boring since original poster has same thing.

Are you my double, my doppleganger, are you reading my mind, do you have my house bugged, am I a split personality and don't know it and I actually posted this myself under an alter ego username a few minutes ago....!!!

    :D

Exactly the same in every single detail. My greatest fear is that although this molar has had half missing for the last 3 years and his given me little trouble other than the odd minor gum infection in all that time, my fear is that this week out of all the last 156 weeks will be the week it decides to turn into an agonising cesspool of toothache and puss. This week, the week I am heading of skiing, my first holiday in 3 years...and yet I just couldn't bring myself to pick up the phone and ring the dentist.

    :D

Same thing happened to me, 7 and a half years it took, then boom pain wasn't as bad as i expected though. Next day a bit worse, I was off work the day after, then didnt bother going to the dentist then the very next day in work it was ****ing killing me, could barely move my head. The Friday I ended up going to the dentist, only 65 for the extraction although it was my first time in the dentists so he charged 120 and gave me a full dental check. He said if id have gone to him even 3 months before he could of done root-canal on the tooth, but i left it too late it had abcessed so much it practically fell out.

I'm procrastinating on becoming a fabulously wealthy millionaire playboy type functioning member of society.

Yeah yeah I know I should but I'm really busy right now with this fridge full of Tuborg and all these Xbox games - I'll be a media mogul/extravagant man about town next month.

    Sheesh.

I had a gum infection after getting a rotten wisdom tooth removed 15 years ago.

Got the whole deal done, 6/7 fillings, one tough extraction.

Lovely dental nurse! She had to get on her knees to remove the root. Took her ages, poor thing.
She had to pull and pull.

Never back since, but if I have to, I'll think of the dental nurse.

I have a few of the tooth things, too. The last time I procrastinated on the same issue I eventually developed an abscess on the tooth and had to get it pulled. The itty bitty girl dentist was levering herself against the chair to pull it out and the roots eventually broke off. She had to cut my gum and drill out the remainders. After that experience I'm not going back until I'm toothless.

Mostly I'm procrastinating about getting a new flatmate. I've been paying 700 quid a month since October for an empty room.

my dentist is a real butcher, but he's cheap and quick. The last time i went i got the missus to drive incase i was in no shape, knew i had to have a tooth out. When i was called in i told her to go shopping and i'll probably be half an hour at least. I went in, he had a quick look, gave me an injection, pulled the tooth and i was back down within 8 minutes (all of that was waiting on the anaesthetic) missus looked at her watch as she was leaving. Quick pain beats slow pain any day.

Plenty of things i should do on a daily basis.

From going for a small walk in the morning, to going to FAS to find a job, to actually making an effort to lose weight, to meeting up with my friends (or any living being)... yet.. I just haven't got the enthusiasm to do it.

Go out and live life instead of focusing 100% on my job/study. I suppose it will have its benefits but it's getting tiring.

Don't know why but it's when I have loads of work to do and deadlines that I find myself on boards hitting f5 the most.

I seriously need to start going to the gym because I am hopelessly unfit.
I live about 10 minutes away from it and I have free membership, yet I just can't bring myself to go.

I went to the dentist in excruciating pain this time last year. He said my wisdom teeth were impacted and would need removing. I only got the one that was hurting removed as that's all I could afford, and then promptly forgot about the whole thing...

...until the morning of my 21st when I woke up in terrible pain, unable to open my mouth or move my head. Oh how I cursed my procrastination that day.

Ten minutes to get there, and depending on traffic, five minutes to get to the hospital in the ambulance afterwards.

    Yeh, forget about it.

I have the tooth thing too.

I did have one in the left side of my mouth, the tooth gradually fell away in bits, and now I have bits of a stump left there. Now I have one in the right side of my mouth, just a big hole it's not quite a stump yet.

I also had an ingrown toenail on both big toes (one of them grew in on both sides) for about 4 years, they're both gone now, but I would never go to a doctor to have them removed.

I hate all medical things, I think I'm terrified of needles.
Which is weird for someone with pierced nipples . . .

about a year and a half ago i tripped running up a flight of steel stairs, got the corner of a step right under my knee. my whole knee went black, and i couldnt walk for about two weeks. wasnt arsed going to a doctor and figured it'd heal itself. about two months later i tripped on the same step, exact same thing happened again. now whenever i walk up stairs or even run the slightest bit my knee seizes up. really should go to a doctor...
