i grazed the rear bumper of an 04 corolla today, not a huge graze, but a fair one, not deep and most of it would buff off but theres some bits of paint entirley gone on it for sure, the bumper already had a sizable graze on that side (different colour to my car) , i left my details and took photos but whats the deal with it

    a) can i be made pay for a whole new bumper
    b) how much would it cost to fix (both repairing & replacing if possible)
    c) can i do it without my insurance finding out

As long as you pay for it yourself, you can fire away with the insurance knowing.

Unless it's cracked, i can imagine the bumper itself can just be sprayed. Any pic of it?
If paint is missing, no buffing will get it out. I'd imagine it wouldn't cost more €150-€200 to get it sprayed.

Fair play to ya for leaving your number.

cheers, considering the fact they didnt get the last mark on it fixed, if they call im gonna see will givin them 100 euro call it quits,

photos of the cars, mine didnt fair badly, gonna give it a good car wash and buff and see what the real damage is,

Note, the blue marks in the left of the pic arent my cars damage, that scrape goes right round to the front, must have been a small blue bollard or something

I doubt €100 will get either of those painted tbh.

Ouch. Start praying that they're nice people. A new colour coded bumper from Toyota would be very pricey if they decide they want a new one!

You should get that sprayed for €150-200. Theres not much prep work required and it can be removed for spraying. The only expensive bit is the plastic primer.

    Goddamn SUV's!! :D

I'd say a bit more, €300+ to repair, repaint and replace the mudflap. Unless you're very lucky, they're not going to do it in the cheapest place. Fair play for leaving your details, fewer and fewer people do the decent thing like that these days.

+1. Very similar damage done to my car last year (05 mondeo, metallic blue).
The lad that did the damage was totally honest, and had left his details in the garda station. The best cash price I could get at a good panel-beaters was 400E.

To do the job right, its going to require at least half the bumper to be sprayed, so the new paint blends in with the original - otherwise it will be very noticable.
