I have a great corolla van and was thinking of putting seats in it. i know some guy who said he'll do it no problem but is there alot of hassle with it? seat belts, nct instead of doe, tax etc. do i need to pay vrt on it then. its a 1999 2.0L diesel van but i don't want to get rid of it. anyone do this before?

As far as i know all you have to do is get the seats put in, inform your insurance company then you have to get a safety check to insure its safe(im not sure who does this) and nct it then.

You will also have to reclassify the vehicle as a private car as opposed to a van, replace the window blanks etc. Old man did it a number of years back with a MK 1 Golf.

You'll need to pay the VRT difference - the van was presumably VRTed at 13.3% originally.

Can't see why you'd bother on a 10 year old car. there are loads of cheap cars out there.

    +1

Not worth the hassel and expenditure. Easier to just trade the car van for a passenger version.

As part of the process of converting it to a van in the first place, the rear seat and seatbelt mounts are supposed to be destroyed. It would be a messy and expensive job that will cost more than the van is worth.
