Cable signal booster suggestion

    Hi there,

    I am having a problem with my analogue cable television, and was just wondering if anyone could suggest a solution.

    I live in a shared house and each room has a cable output from the main living room. However, this means the picture quality on some channels (ITV1, RTE ONE, SETANTA IRELAND in particular) is dreadful. Other channels are acceptable however.

    I have tried several signal boosters and one VHF amplifier, but all to no avail.

    I was just wondering if anyone knew any way around the issue, or any signal boosters/VHF amplifiers that really work.

    How many outputs do you have? You should be able to use a good shielded 3-way splitter (preferably with F-connectors) and get an acceptable picture. If not, the problem could lie with your co-ax (poor quality or water ingress if any of it goes outside), the connection at the tap, the main cable going to your house, or you're just dividing up the signal too much.

    The problem with most distribution amps is that they only seem to cover terrestrial TV VHF and UHF frequencies, not the extra cable frequencies used between Band III (VHF) and IV (UHF).
