Hi, I am having problems with my freesat installation. Did the install myself (Dish, cabling etc). Have a Humax HD box. Problem is the freesat tune doesnt work, but if i do a manual tune i get loadsa channels but they are all foreign (mostly german). Could it be i am on the wrong satellite? The manual tune has freesat 28.2 as the satellite and its greyed out so i cant change it. During the initial setup it kept hanging on the 'waiting for satellite signal' and when i skipped it, it asked for a postcode and wouldnt accept it even though it was a legit london code. After skipping that i managed to get to the manual tune option. I would appreciate any help!!

If it's mostly German channels you're picking up, I would nearly be sure you've dish aimed at Astra 1 (19°E). So, from behind the dish, you'll need to move a bit to the left, and lower the elevation slightly until you pick up Astra 2/Eurobird (28°E)

Your dish is probably not alligned properley.. It is slighly off.

For freesat to tune, it needs to have a better than 50% signal strength & signal quality on the following Transponder 11428 H 27500

check and see what sort of quality you get on that setting in the FTA mode.

Ooops, I missed the part about the German TV!!! Apologies, ignore me and listen to Byte!

I think postcode has something to do with being aligned to eurobird, it receives postcode info from there , astra only .5 degree from it , having same trouble, but further on, got freesat working used london code,Nw8 box accepted it, scans for channels , finds them ,but some channels incl, bbc hd not working, no or bad signal, using 80 cm dish and lemon mono block, Lacuna DSM Mk IV Digital Satellite Meter, anyone used one of these meters? cheers

Have you another single LNB you could try instead of the monobloc?

thanks for the replies guys i kinda thought that the alignment might be off. just a quick question, i used a satellite finder, i thought it would only locate the satellite the receiver is looking for? (freesat 28.2) might be wrong on that score though and i think its an old satellite finder as well! out of interest i am using a quad lnb, does it matter which slot i put the connector in?
    thanks again!

tried a sky installed lnb , was working when a took it down last year , dish was a rusty eyesore, but could not get aligned at all, holder was difenent on sky dish, could the dish be the the fault?, hardly? mono block work until the high wind 2 week ago, replaced all the f connectors, ran new cable to box etc, head wrecked, might try new lnb, any recommendations?

Is it a proper dish (uses standard LNB's) or a Sky Minidish?

Basic satfinders just find signals, they don't determine if it's the right satellite you're looking at.

Using a quad LNB, it doesn't matter what slot you use.

ISS 80 cm dish, lemon monoblock, arm was loose, that holds the mono block, after the storm 2 week ago, but tightened that up , would it matter if it were out a few mm?
, any recomendations for satellite dish and lnb?
    cheers
