Ubuntu VM and TFTP server

I'm currently trying to download an image file to a dev board through TFTP. The board is sending read requests to my NIC so I know at least that much is working. I have that NIC bridged to a device in the virtual machine, I think that should be enough. Do I need to use NAT or anything instead?

Now I have Ubuntu running in a virtual machine with a TFTP server running ok. I've tested the server within Ubuntu on the loopback and accessing it through windows. Both work fine. The problem is when the board tries to access the server, the server seems to not respond or else something is being blocked. Is there possibly something I'm missing?

My firewall shouldn't be the problem, does Ubuntu need ports configured or anything? Any help would be great, I'm at a bit of a loss atm.
